By constantly evolving, innovating and improving, our facilities and processes have developed over the years to become the most cutting-edge battery manufacturing plant in Africa. Equipped with advanced technology and automated systems, our computerised processes ensure precision engineering and optimal efficiency in battery production.
As a result of constant innovation and our dedication to marginal gains, we have seen battery production rise from 32,017 in 2007 to over 80,000 in 2014 and now in 2024 ABM will produce 1.5 million batteries.
At the same time, we have gradually improved the quality of our batteries and continue to make sure that our products adhere to the increasingly demanding international standards of environmental responsibility, battery performance and safety.
All of our products conform to EN and JIS international standards, and we strictly adhere to ILA safety requirements.
Our state-of-the-art processes ensure consistent quality through every stage, delivering robust, long-lasting products that our customers have come to trust.

Grid casting
Process in which molten metal is poured into a pre-designed cavity, known as a mould, to produce a solid object (grid) with the desired shape and structure.
2.
Pasting & plate curing
Active material is applied to the grids and subjected to a controlled environment to achieve high quality cells for the manufacturing of batteries.
3.
Assembly
Individual battery components are combined into the finished product using state-of-the-art equipment.
4.
Formation & Finishing
Batteries are activated and conditioned to give the desired output.
5.
Distributed to market
The batteries are stacked and loaded, and delivered through our wide distribution network across large swathes of Africa.

Environmental, Social & Governance
ABM's commitment to sustainability extends to recycling lead and plastic materials from old batteries. Through our recycling efforts, lead is smelted, purified, blended, and cast into ingots before being re-smelted to create grids and lead power.
